FRUIT OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
Mrs Velina Newa, aged 32, has 4 children and hails from Mtambo village , group village Sadulira, Nthyoka section. She is one of the lead farmers who are participating in SALFP project implemented by TAPP and funded by Development Fund Of Norway.
She attended 5 days training which focused on sustainable agriculture practices. She confessed that before that training, she was spending a lot of money in field activities such as ploughing and weeding. Mrs newa thanked TAPP for the training because it has acted as an eye opener and she is now applying Conservation Agriculture technologies on her farm. She narrated that she is saving a lot of money through this method because she no longer ploughs and makes a lot of manure hence doesn’t need to buy many bags of inorganic fertilisers.
In addition to farming practice training, Mrs Newa is also one of the beneficiaries who received 2 goats on pass on programme basis under SALFP project so as to enable her in manure production and she said that she is looking forward to making more manure in the following year
